James McCarthy is a writer based in Edinburgh, the author of 7 published books, currently focussed on historic Scottish travellers and explorers, in addition to articles in other publications. His work has been presented at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Scottish International Storytelling Festival.
In addition to early work in East Africa, JMcC has travelled extensively in USA, Canada, Australia and Europe.
Interests
Current biographical interests are in investigating the lesser known Scottish travellers and explorers of the 18th and 19th centuries who have made significant contributions to science and literature.
